Winter of ’92-‘93

Although my husband would probably like to forget the record snowfall we had in Sunriver the winter of 1992-1993, I none the less made this small wall hanging for him as a Christmas gift. It features a quilted frame, an easy (but not necessarily quick) way to produce an elegant wall hanging quilt. The small center was fashioned by cutting a photo of my husband into four equal pieces, enlarging those pieces, and printing each on photo fabric. The four resulting blocks were sashed to form the look of a window pane in the center of a small quilt. That center was then quilted and attached to a larger white quilted background – a technique called a portrait finish that I learned in a class taught by Jean Wells.
